The characteristic architectural style of Casa Platypus, dating from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, characterized as the Spanish settlements of the time, in the embodiment of a growing urban perimeter to a central urban core, in the case of Bogotá, emulating Plaza Bolívar. These models provide unique building features into the house, for the use of materials such as brick and clay tile, which would become a feature of Candelaria, and this particular architecture through all colonial Colombia.

The typology of the buildings is directly related to its functionality, the central courtyard serves the same function as the square within the city, being the central point of the building, where all activities such as circulation features are developed into these buildings.

Casa Platypus has a perimeter spatial distribution, allowing a permanent light income to the rooms, improving lighting and temperature conditions generated by the internal courtyard. The building has 2 levels, on its facade and interior one of biggest the highlights is the use of decorations and wood details on windows and doors, this becomes a characteristic feature of this kind of old building, giving it a special and elegant touch, allowing you to compare the modernity of new constructions taking place in the city, creating a landscape of contrasting play with the mountains of Monserrate and Guadalupe, under which Bogotá was developed.
